Self-Discovery – Part 2

In Writing

I was first inducted into content writing and editing by my collegemate and now close friend Vani Saraswathi, as she roped me in for our Department (Commerce) magazine in college. She had handled it with aplomb and moreover, she was well on track as she was pursuing a career in journalism. She then handed over the magazine to select people (including me) as she exited college a year ahead of me. That was a peek in to my affinity for writing. I was always good at English in school but never took it seriously. Being a part of the college magazine was an eye-opener for me and a great experience. Thankful to Vani for it.

I kept writing letters (which apparently entertained my family and friends) and blog posts through the years and in 2005, my anecdotal article in an organisation’s newsletter was widely appreciated and I was invited to author a monthly column. Thankful to Ameeta Agnihotri for this. From there I began writing freelance for magazines and newsletters and my body of work included people interviews, features, reviews, health, ghost writing for editorials and later, short fiction. Thankful to Bina Sujit for giving me continuous opportunities at JFW (Just For Women) magazine. I’m also grateful to Aruna, editor of Ritz (a lifestyle magazine) for the opportunities she sent my way to conduct interviews with achievers across various industries.

A short story of mine that was published in Just for Women (JFW) magazine.

I continue writing till date and have been busy with product descriptions, creative writing and concepts, blog posts, customer-engagement emails, etc. in my current role as Founder at Chennaigaga® chennaigaga.com
